The New Mexico Activities Association's Board of Directors approved the Alignment and Classification for 2010-2011 through 2013-2014 at its June meeting on Wednesday.
For eight months the NMAA board of directors had been discussing the splitting of the state's 1A schools into two classes 1A and 1B.
Starting in 2010 Logan, will compete in the district 3A with Melrose, Fort Sumner and Clovis Christian. San Jon and House will compete in district 3B with Grady and Eilda.
Tucumcari's cross country team is the only Rattlers' sport affected by the alignment change. They will be placed in  District 3 A/AA, which is made up of 13 teams.
The split was based on enrollments at schools with 0-70 students slated for placement in 1B, and schools with 71-150 students remaining in 1A.

It will be the most NMSU has received for a "payday" game in school history.
"We found an opportunity to do it against Georgia and negotiated for a dollar amount that we thought was fair," said NMSU Athletics Director McKinley Boston, the report.
