Trail riders give their horses a break for water Saturday

Quay County horse enthusiasts and businesses helped raise money for cancer research last weekend at the American Cancer Society’s 2011 Ride for Life at the Lazy LB Ranch near San Jon.

The yearly event included a trail ride, games and activities, live music and food.

According to Ride For Life Captain Amber Workheicer, individual riders raised more than $9,000 dollars for the cancer society, while area businesses raised the amount to a total of more than $15,000.
