Forty-five-mile-per-hour winds disrupted power one evening, leaving much of Quay County outside of Tucumcari in the dark for more than four hours.

 

The Tucumcari Lawyers Association announced a uniform schedule of office hours for its members in order to better handle its clients.

 

Standard Uranium of New Mexico mined 17 tons of uranium ore from a mine southeast of town, and another eight tons were mined from four claims to the west. This was the first commercial uranium ore shipment from the Tucumcari area. Prospecting for uranium was also conducted at the Metropolitan Park.
