A Tucumcari police officer has resigned amidst a criminal investigation by New Mexico State Police.

Tucumcari Police Chief Jason Braziel said the unnamed officer resigned this morning.

State Police Public Information Officer Lt. Tim Q. Johnson confirmed the officer was the subject of an investigation, but said "the identity of the officer and the nature of the investigation" could not be revealed.

Tucumcari’s interim city manager, Doug Powers, declined to comment.
