ROSWELL — Roswell Goddard scored with about two minutes left in the second overtime Tuesday to nip Clovis High 3-2 in girls soccer.

The Lady Coyotes avenged a 2-1 loss to CHS on Saturday at Leon Williams Stadium.

Cynthia Madrid scored for the Lady Wildcats (6-7) off a penalty kick in the first half. Audrey Rodela then tied the score and force overtiime on a goal with 2:28 left in regulation.

In the junior varsity preliminary, Goddard beat the Lady Cats 1-0 on a goal with about two minutes left.

TEXICO — The Texico and Tatum volleyball teams will be “playing for a cure” for cancer when they meet here on Oct. 16.

Texico coach Kristen Scanlan said the match will be dedicated to individuals currently battling the disease. Those attending are encouraged to wear pink.

Scanlan said donations for the Susan G. Koman For a Cure Foundation will be taken during the varsity and junior varsity matches.
