Difference: Fort Sumner posted its third shutout of the season, limiting the Panthers to six first downs and 20 total yards.

Laremy Simmons rushed for 122 yards and a touchdown on 18 carries,
while junior Braeden Dimitroff added 87 yards on 13 attempts. Senior QB
Berry Stinnett passed for 70 yards and a touchdown and ran for 76 yards
on nine carries.
Melrose 66, Mountainair 6
Records: Mountainair 3-4, Melrose 7-0.
Impact: Melrose, 8-man’s top-ranked team continued to dominate its competition.
The Buffaloes did all of their scoring against the defending 8-man
champion Mustangs in the first half.
Difference-makers: Junior QB Clint Barnard ran for three first-quarter TDs, and threw
scoring passes of 58 and 25 yards to junior WR Sammy Lawrence in the
second period. Senior Lane Draper added TDs on a 70-yard run and a
48-yard punt return.
Go figure: Melrose scored at least 60 points for the fourth game in a row, and the fifth time this season.
Muleshoe 52, Floydada 0
Records: Floydada 1-5, 0-1, Muleshoe 6-0, 1-0
Impact: Muleshoe continued to roll in its District 2-2A opener.
Difference-makers: Senior
QB Wes Wood comleted 22-of-38 passes for 390 yards and four touchdowns,
and he also scored on a 10-yard run. Ironically, it was the first time
this season Wood hasn’t thrown for at least five scores in a game. …
Senior WR Victor Vasquez caught 10 passes for 222 yards; only one was
for a touchdown, although he also returned a punt 71 yards for a score.
Go figure: The Mules scored two touchdowns in each quarter of the game.
