The first day of the Route 66 Classic basketball tournament wrapped up with some big wins for four Quay County teams.
The Logan and Tucumcari boys and girls squads all advanced to the winners bracket and will face each other Friday night at the Snake Pit.
"We know Logan is going to be tough," said Rattlers head coach John Span. "We are expecting to play four tough periods of basketball."
The Rattlers defeated the San Jon Coyotes 81-38 in the final game of the night, with senior A.J. Trujillo leading the way for the Rattlers with 20 points.
The Lady Rattlers defeated the Lady Coyotes 58-30, Lady Rattler senior Kaitlin Lopez had a big night scoring 30 points, 11,8-13,0.
"I think we are ready for Logan," Lopez said. "This tournament is providing us with a challenge that will help to build our confidence for the rest of the season."
The Logan Longhorns beat Monte Del Sol 63-51, and the Logan Lady Longhorns beat the Portales JV 53-39.
