It wasn’t a pretty win, but the Clovis Wildcats will take it.

The Wildcats notched their third straight win, 46-35 over Los Lunas Friday night.

Clovis (14-7) goes into its Tuesday rematch at Trinity Christian with a three-game winning streak since the 69-61 setback to the Lubbock-based Lions.

Jaye Crockett scored 25 points for Clovis, easily besting Los Lunas’ Spencer Waquie (10) for game-high honors.

The Wildcats had little problem on the road, extending Los Lunas’ losing streak to five games.

“Our kids played with a lot of confidence,” Clovis coach J.D. Isler said, “even though nothing really went our way.”

Clovis turned the ball over 15 times in the first half, but did more than enough to cover for their offensive woes.

“We played really, really good defense,” Clovis coach J.D. Isler said. “We not only hurt them with our press, but we defended well in halfcourt.

“We could never get anything extended on offense.”

The Wildcats (14-7) opened the third quarter with a 6-0 run to build a 27-12 cushion, and spent the rest of the game holding the Tigers at bay.

Dexter Correll added six for Clovis.
