Fort Sumner visits Elida on Tuesday; Dora closes at Floyd on Friday. … Chavez hit a pair of 3-pointers in the first quarter to help stake the Vixens to their early lead. … Dora cut its 12-point halftime deficit to 39-35 on Kelli Merrick’s 3-point play with 4:01 left, but scored only two points the rest of the way. Chavez hit 4-of-4 free throws and Sarah Stinnett 1-of-2 down the stretch to seal the win.

He was also 11-of-12 from from the free throw line. Posada’s point total was a season high. ... Posada also held Trujillo scoreless after the first quarter. “It was truly a tale of two halves,” Texico coach Richard Luscombe said. “Clayton played real well early. We executed about as poorly as we have all season in the first half,” which ended with Texico down 22-20. “We did a real good job of executing in the second half and we shot our free throws well.” ... After going 6-of-13 from the free-throw line in the first half, Texico was 10-of-11 in the second half.

Jeremy Butler’s fifth 3-pointer keyed an 11-4 run for Dora to start the third quarter. Fort Sumner got back to 42-40 in the third period, but Lieb had two 3-pointers and 8 points to key a quarter-ending 13-4 run for the Coyotes. … Pettigrew’s 3-pointer pulled Fort Sumner to 60-54 with 2:40 left, but the Foxes didn’t score after that and Dora went 6-of-8 from the line down the stretch.
