Ethan Peterson was consistent throughout with a 3-over-par 73, and the host Wildcats took an 18-stroke win over Portales in the Tyler Fontenot Invitational on Friday at Clovis Municipal Golf Course.

The Clovis girls cruised to first place with a 30-stroke win over Texico, with Kelby Rains claiming medalist honors.

Peterson shot a 36 on the front nine and a 37 on the back for the boy’s medalist spot, followed by Dora’s Kyler Smith, who shot a 74.

The Wildcats posted a team score of 312, beating Portales’ 330 and Tucumcari’s 362.

Donavin Sanchez led the way for Portales with a 78 to finish tied for fourth with Kyle Wornell of Clovis. Steven Smith shot 77 to lead the Rattlers.

The Lady Wildcats put three golfers in the top five, including Nicki Clayton with a 91 and Michaela Hulder at 94.

Erin Scanlan finished tied for second with a 91, and paced Texico to a second-place finish with a score of 91. Scanlan and Allison Myers (94) each got qualifying legs as the Wolverines posted a score of 397.

Tylar Rowley led Portales with a 93.
