RUIDOSO — The Portales Lady Rams bounced back from a first-game loss to beat Ruidoso 4-1 for a split of their District 4-3A softball doubleheader Tuesday night.

The Lady Rams (11-7, 3-1) jumped on Ruidoso (14-4, 3-1) for two runs in the top of the first in the second game, and junior LeAnne Blaeser blanked the Lady Warriors until the bottom of the seventh. Blaeser pitched a six-hitter.

Jaci Terry, Amanda Marquez and Brittney Gardner each had two hits for the Lady Rams in the win.

Portales coach Robbie Crowley said she was pleased with how the team played taking a split with Ruidoso.

“Ruidoso is a pretty good team,” Crowley said. “These are the games t hat make you better, when we play a close game and have to step up and do something.”

The Lady Rams tied the first game with a run in the fifth, but Ruidoso scored twice in the sixth to win it.

Blaeser, Marquez and Gardner all had two hits for Portales in the opener. Marquez took the loss in the circle despite allowing only five hits.
