Difference: The Wolverines nursed a 14-7 lead through most of the second half after Jose Posada picked up a teammate’s fumble and scored from 2 yards out late in the second quarter.
Difference-makers: Edgardo Meza rushed for 138 yards on 27 carries and scored Texico’s first TD on a 3-yard run early in the second quarter. Senior QB Seth Bailey added 50 yards on 7 carries and got a clinching score on a 17-yard run in the final period.
Of note: Texico ran its winning streak to 17 games.

Difference-makers: Jason Martinez ran for three touchdowns, including a 56-yard run. Joqquin Bachicha added scoring runs of 70 and 74 yards.
Springlake-Earth 21, Bovina 10
Records: Bovina 4-1, Springlake-Earth 4-1
Difference: The Wolverines scored the game’s final 21 points, holding Bovina scoreless for the final 3 1/2 quarters.
Difference-makers: Rolando Perez got the Mustangs on the board with an 85-yard touchdown run two minutes into the game. … QB Blake Betz ran for one score and threw for another for the Wolverines.
Of note: The Mustangs are idle next week before beginning district play at home on Oct. 9 against Nazareth.
Muleshoe 52, Borger 26
Records: Borger 3-2, Muleshoe 5-0
Difference: The Mules, winners of 20 in a row, converted five Borger turnovers into four touchdowns, including two fumble recoveries on kickoffs.
Difference-makers: Senior QB Jared Skipworth threw for career highs of 409 yards and six touchdowns. Washington caught seven passes for 125 yards and two scores.
Of note: The defending Texas Class 2A Division I champions extended their winning streak to 20 games.
Elida 54, Vaughn 7
Records: Elida 2-2, Vaughn 0-4
Difference-makers: Junior Alex Varela rushed for 205 yards and four touchdowns while senior QB-LB Shane Mitchell scored three times — on runs of 45 and 17 yards and on a 32-yard interception return. Mitchell finished with 102 yards rushing and 52 yards passing.
Of note: Varela’s TDs were on runs of 45, 55 and 65 yards in the first half, and 25 yards on the second play of the third quarter to end the game on 6-man’s 45-point lead rule after halftime. … Junior Kevin Mitchell scored the Tigers’ other TD on a 30-yard run, and also had a QB sack, while Jordan Tivis had a pass interception.
Farwell 41, Arbor Christian 0
Records: Farwell 1-3, Arbor Christian 2-2.
Difference: The Steers dominated en route to their first win of the season, holding the Lions to eight first downs and outgaining them for the game 426-80.
Difference-makers: Colby Read rushed for 122 yards and three touchdowns. QB Landry Actkinson went 14-of-20 through the air for 178 yards and also had two short touchdowns, while Lincoln Devault caught three passes for 91 yards and kicked a 32-yard field goal.
Of note: The Steers forced eight Arbor Christian turnovers — six interceptions, two fumble recoveries.
