FARWELL — The Farwell High football team will take the field tonight with Shane Perkins coaching the Steers. Perkins, who was hired for the boys basketball head position, will lead Farwell for the remaining of its schedule following the reassignment of former coach Mark Anglin.

Dissension among the team may have been a factor in the decision. Farwell superintendent Mike Read confirmed that 15 members of the squad met with him and Steve Parker, principal at Farwell High, last Saturday.

“Those 15 boys didn’t make the decision, Mr. Read did. I made the decision,” Read said. “Bottom line, this has been a tough, tough situation. It’s one of those things that’s done and we’re ready to move on.”

Read said that Anglin remains at the school in his capacity as an English teacher.
