Texico junior forward Trent Barclay slips a shot over two Bovina defenders during a first-round game Thursday at the Farwell Invitational. Barclay finished with seven points in Texico’s 73-37 win.

• Dora opened a 25-point halftime lead and cruised to a 64-46 win over Clovis Christian behind 19 points from Mark Butler and Colton Gruis. Michael Puebla also reached double figures with 10 points for the Coyotes (5-1), while sophomore Kendall Naceanceno scored 13 and senior Cory Shipman added 12 for the Eagles (1-5).

• Vega advanced with a 43-40 win over Friona, holding off the Chieftains after taking a 36-23 lead into the final quarter. Senior forward Chip Morris had 15 points for the Longhorns, while 6-foot-3 senior Matthew Stansberry led all scorers with 18 points for Friona.

• Texico remained unbeaten (5-0), also bolting to a big halftime lead in a 73-37 rout of Bovina. The Wolverines got 15 points from senior Seth Bailey and 11 from senior Kyle Boatman. Junior Dorian Vela topped the Mustangs (4-5) with 10 points.

• Despite putting no one in double figures, Farwell (6-2) pulled away steadily to beat Fort Sumner 45-30.

Senior center Octavio Chavez and junior guard Lincoln Devault had nine points each for the Steers.

Senior Michael Mares led Fort Sumner with eight points.
