Unbeatens will collide tonight in the boys championship of the 53rd EPAC tournament at Eastern New Mexico University’s Greyhound Arena.

Top-seeded Texico (11-0) advanced to the 8:30 p.m. championship game with a 64-29 rout of Fort Sumner, while third-seeded Floyd (10-0) pulled away in the third quarter to turn back Tatum 42-33.

Texico opened a 14-3 lead at the quarter against the Foxes (7-5), then held Fort Sumner to 10 second-half points in pulling away. Senior forward Seth Bailey scored 25 points for the Wolverines, while junior center Mitchell Harrison added 10 points.

The Foxes were led by eight points from sophomore guard Skylar McMath.

Floyd held a three-point lead at halftime in the late semifinal, but outscored Tatum 12-3 in the third period to open a 32-20 margin. Senior forward Chet Chenault scored 24 points and junior guard J’Kobie Lee added 11, and both players had three 3-point baskets.

For the Coyotes (7-4), senior guards Logan Medlin and Ryan Glenn each finished with nine points.

Tatum will face Fort Sumner for third place at 5:30 p.m. today.

In consolation bracket play:

• Clovis Christian opened an 18-point lead, then had to fight off a furious Grady rally to edge the Bronchos 60-58 in a battle of winless teams.

Eighth-grader Kendall Naceanceno scored 14 points, senior Dylan Otero added 13 and sophomore Kevin Naceanceno scored 10 for the Eagles (1-9). Otero had three of the Eagles’ six 3-pointers while Kendall Naceanceno added a pair.

For Grady (0-14), senior guard Dalton Thomas had three 3-pointers and 17 points, senior guard Jarod Allen had two 3-pointers and 14 points and junior forward Dustan Provencio finished with 10 points.
