Of note: Lady Rams coach Clay Stout spent the 2006-07 season as an assistant to Texico coach Keith Durham. The Lady Wolverines won a Class 2A state title that year. … Texico is on an 11-game winning streak since a 60-41 loss to Clovis in the third-place game of the Plateau Holiday Classic on Dec. 30. Portales has won eight of its last 10, with losses to Clovis (30-28) and Roswell High (35-34). … Texico’s other four losses are by a combined 17 points. “They’ve got a solid ballteam,” Stout said. “A g ame like this kind of lets both teams work on some things. Any time you play a good team, it pushes you to do things right.”

Of note: The Rams had a four-game winning streak snapped at Lovington. “We did not play well at all,” Rams coach Mark Gallegos said. “For us, this is a good game. Texico’s one of the better teams we’ll face all year.” … Texico started the season 14-0 before losing at home to Mesilla Valley in a rematch of last year’s 2A state final, won by the Wolverines. … Texico’s only other loss this season was to district rival Santa Rosa 43-40 on Feb. 6.
