The Clovis Wildcats are ranked fourth in the New Mexico High School Coaches Association preseason football poll released Wednesday.

The Wildcats are coming off a 9-3 season.

Defending state champion La Cueva is first, followed by Mayfield and Las Cruces High.

Two-time defending state champion Melrose is No. 1 in 8-man football.

In volleyball, four-time champ Texico is No. 1 in Class 2A, Clovis is 10th in Class 5A, and Grady is third and Fort Sumner fifth in Class 1A.
