• Amarillo Tascosa advanced to the finals of the Southwest Dairy Farmers Classic on Wednesday, overcoming a nine-point halftime deficit by holding St. Michael’s to two second-half field goals for a 39-35 win.

The Rebels (9-7) trailed 29-20 at the break, but outscored the Horsemen 10-2 in the third quarter to pull within a point. Junior guard Lamar Britton led the Rebels with 19 points.

St. Mike’s (6-3) had no one in double figures. Its leading scorer was 5-foot-7 guard Antonio Garcia with nine points, including two 3-pointers.

• In consolation play, Manzano advanced to today’s fifth-place contest by rallying past Abilene Cooper 52-48.

Manzano (5-4) outscored the Cougars 14-7 in the final quarter. The Monarchs had just 13 field goals, but six were 3-pointers and they went 20-for-25 at the free throw line.

For Manzano, 6-6 junior forward Austin Roark scored 17 points and 6-4 senior forward Erik Bouma had four 3-pointers and 14 points. The Cougars (6-12) were led by 13 points from junior guard Derrick Randle.

• In the other consolation semifinal, Hereford opened a 17-2 lead over Farmington and never looked back in a 76-32 pasting of the Scorpions.

Junior guard Nate Adams had 17 points for the Herd (5-10), senior forward Ryan Martinez scored 16 and senior guard Zack Lopez added 10. Hereford converted nine 3-pointers and went 25-of-36 from the free throw line.

Farmington (3-8) was led by Adonis Saltes with nine points.

Girls

• El Paso Coronado advanced to the finals of the Plateau Wireless Classic, pulling away from Amarillo Caprock on Wednesday for a 49-40 victory.

Senior guard Sarah Osborn scored 19 points for the Lady T-Birds (17-2), including a pair of 3-pointers. Sophomore guard Joanna Perez added 11 points, including six in the final stanza, while senior guard Jallycia Pearson scored seven of her 10 points in the last frame.

For the Lady Longhorns (11-6), sophomore forward Brooklyn Artis had 15 ponts and senior forward Jessica Williams added 10.
