Radio: KSEL 105.9
Last time out: Portales lost at home to 4A powerhouse Roswell High 70-61. Texico dropped a District 4-2A heartbreaker at Santa Rosa 37-36.
Last meeting: February 2010, Texico edged Portales 51-50.
Texico players to watch: Lucas Walthers, Sr. P; Jose Posada, Sr. G.
About the Wolverines: Texico was ranked No. 5 in Class 2A last week before its District 4-2A loss at No. 7 Santa Rosa. The Wolverines won this year’s EPAC tournament. “Lucas Walthers is the guy they’ll try to go to, but they’ve got a good supporting cast around him,” Rams coach Mark Gallegos said. “I think they’re very team-oriented this year.”
What’s coming: Gallegos says he’ll mix up his defenses to keep the Wolverines guessing. He expects Texico to try and play more of a half-court game and won’t try to get out and run with the Rams.
Health: The Rams currently have no injuries, according to Gallegos.
Roswell High (18-2) at Portales (12-7)
7 p.m. today

About Roswell High: The Lady Coyotes are ranked No. 1 in 4A. Their only losses are to Onate (No. 1 in 5A) and Hobbs. “You normally don’t see teams of that size and athleticism too often,” Portales coach Clay Stout said.
What’s coming: Stout expects the Lady Coyotes to press, but said his team hasn’t had too many problems with it in the past. He said Roswell will probably also throw multiple defensive looks at the Lady Rams.
Health: The Lady Rams are starting to get healthy again after dealing with some recent illness.
