Tuesday’s Clovis-Lovington boys basketball game was postponed because of inclement weather.

Clovis coach J.D. Isler said there was one scenario under which the teams would reschedule the non-district game, but it would be contingent on both teams clinching the top seeds in their districts.

If Clovis and Lovington clinch the top seeds in their tournaments, they may attempt to reschedule for Feb. 21.

The New Mexico Activities Association allows teams to schedule games prior to the start of their district tournaments. The District 4-3A tournament starts Feb. 22, with the championship game either Feb. 25 or 26. The District 4-5A tournament starts Feb. 24, with the championship Saturday.

Several other area games were called off due to weather on Tuesday night, including Portales’ boys at Texico. That game has been reset for 7 p.m. on Feb. 10 and will be the second half of a varsity doubleheader, with girls teams from the two schools tipping off at 5:30 p.m.

Texico’s girls, meantime, were slated to host Lovington on Tuesday night and that non-district contest has been cancelled, as was the Portales girls’ home game against Roswell High.

Other are twin bills called off Tuesday night included Clovis Christian at Fort Sumner, Melrose at Tucumcari and New Deal at Farwell.
