Bernalillo — The Elida Tigers were eliminated from the Class B boys state tournament by a barrage of 3-pointers.

Led by sophomore sharpshooter Eric Olguin, Wagon Mound poured in 10 3-pointers and beat the Tigers 75-57 Wednesday.

Olguin hit three of his five 3-pointers in Wagon Mounds’ 30-point fourth quarter and finished 17 points.

Jacob Castillo added 15 points for the fourth-seeded Trojans (20-7), who put up 48 points in the second half.

Alex Varela led the fifth-seeded Tigers (15-11) with three 3-pointers and 19 points and Taylor Boone added 12 points.

“They put a lot of pressure on us and we turned the ball over too much,” Elida coach Darrell Chenault said. “They did a good job of penetrating and kicking it out for threes.”

Rio Armijo had two 3-pointers in the second quarter as Wagon Mound outscored Elida 17-8 to take a 27-18 halftime lead.
