Alice Duba Alice Duba, 78, of Platte, S.D., died Tuesday, June 17, 2003, at Platte Care Center . She was born Sept. 24, 1924, in Platte, to Albert and Jennie (Luten) DeBoer. She attended grade school in Platte and graduated from Platte High School in 1942. She also was employed at the K&K Store for her brother. On Sept. 27, 1944, she married Ralph Duba. Instead of the traditional home wedding, they were the first couple to be married at the original Christian Reformed Church in Platte. Together, they lived and farmed at the Duba home place until 1960, when they moved to their present home and farm closer to Platte. She was a devoted wife and mother, family members said. She was active in her church where she taught Sunday school, and was also active in the Gideons Ladies Auxiliary on the local and state level. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a son-in-law, David Morrison; a brother, Ralph DeBoer; a sister and her husband, Jessie and Henry Bultsma; and a nephew, Keith Bultsma. Survivors include a son, David Duba (and wife, Kathy) of Tucumcari; one daughter, Dianne Morrison of Merrillville, Ind.; four grandchildren, Jason and Heather Duba and Malissa and Michael Morrison; and one sister, Martha Meek (and husband, Les) of Lakewood, Calif. Services will be 2 p.m. (CDT) today at the Living Word Fellowship Church in Platte. Burial will be in Platte City Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the Gideons. Emma Liles Emma Jeannette Liles, 74, died Friday, June 20, 2003, at Trigg Memorial Hospital in Tucumcari. She was born Jan. 24, 1929 in Hereford, Texas. She was a homemaker. She moved to Endee area with her family and graduated from Porter school system. She married Harmon Liles in 1947 in Tucumcari. She had worked as cook and for the Logan School system. She was a member of the Logan First Baptist Church since 1968. Family members said she loved sewing, quilting and working crossword puzzles. She is preceded in death by her husband and a brother, Sam Thomas. Survivors include one daughter, Judy Connell (and husband, Fred) of Carlsbad; three sons, “Andy” Liles Jr. (and wife, Jane) of North Providence, R.I., Jesse Liles (and wife, Gayla) of Prescott, Ariz., and Jimmy L. Liles and Mary of Logan; one brother, Ralph Thomas of Vega, Texas; two sisters, Susie Vineyard of Mesa, Ariz., and Naoma Jobe of Adrian, Texas; 17 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at First Baptist Church in Logan. The Rev. Steve Kulback, son Jesse Liles and son-in-law the Rev. Fred Connell will officiate. Burial will in the family plot at the San Jon Cemetery. Pallbearers are Emma, Andrew, Jesse, Michael, Calvin, Kollby and David Liles, Brent and Ryan Connell, Casey Mackey, Tim, Tom and Corey Anderson and Richard Taylor. Memorial contributions may be made to the Building Fund of the First Baptist Church in Logan. Arrangements are by Dunn Funeral Home of Tucumcari.
