Iva Lee Haines Evitt, 93, of Amarillo died Monday, June 23, 2003, at Baptist St. Anthony’s Hospital. She was born May 13, 1910 to Bobe and Ellen Brown in Hugo, Okla. She attended school in Logan and married Leland Haines of Logan on Nov. 27, 1927 in Paducah, Texas. During their marriage she worked along side her husband at their dairy near Tucumcari, Leland’s Grocery in Tucumcari and later on the family farm east of Tucumcari. She was a homemaker who was active in her church, home extension and senior citizens. Mrs. Haines Evitt is preceded in death by her husbands, Leland Haines and Arthur Evitt; her parents; one daughter, Juandene; two brothers and three sisters. Survivors include three daughters Evelyn Terry Register and husband Ted of Amarillo; Edna Ruth Blasingame and husband Carroll of Amarillo and Jo Ann Clark and husband Bob of Tucumcari; eight grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Services are scheduled for 2:30 p.m. Friday at the Immanuel Baptist Church in Tucumcari. The Rev. Bob Miller of South Georgia Baptist Church and Rev. Danny Logan of Bell Avenue Baptist Church both of Amarillo will officiate. Visitation will be in Amarillo at Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home at 2820 South Virgina from 6 to 7 p.m. Tuesday. Pallbearers will be grandsons, Rex Maddaford, Mike Riddle, Al Moore, Joe and Rick Hedgecock, Butch and Bill Blasingame and Tim Bowman. Honorary pallbearers will be great-grandsons, Ryan Maddaford, Terry Riddle, Wesley Moore, J.R., Michael and Rickie Blasingame and Justin and Danny Hedgecock. Nancy Bonds, 68, died Saturday, June 21, 2003, at Van Ark Care Center in Tucumcari. She was born May 15, 2003 in Rockford, Ill. Mrs. Bonds made her home in Tucumcari for many years. She worked as a secretary and for a number of years served as the Health Registrar for Quay County. She was a member of the Luthern Church. Survivors include her husband Bob Bonds of Tucumcari; two sons, David Stahl and wife Lou Ann of Los Alamos and Sale Stahl and wife Kim of Phoenix, Ariz.; one step-daughter, LaJuana Hart and husband Marshall of Tucumcari; one brother, Roger Ross of San Jose, Calif. and five grandchildren. A memorial service was held Monday in Los Alamos.
