A Time Solomon was the wisest man that ever lived. He knew many, many things. He tells us that there is a time for everything. Ecclesiastes 3:1-8 (NIV) “There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under heaven: a time to be born and a time to die, a time to plant and a time to uproot, a time to kill and a time to heal, a time to tear down and a time to build, a time to weep and a time to laugh, a time to mourn and a time to dance, a time to scatter stones and a time to gather them, a time to embrace and a time to refrain, a time to search and a time to give up, a time to keep and a time to throw away, a time to tear and a time to mend, a time to be silent and a time to speak, a time to love and a time to hate, a time for war and a time for peace.” What he doesn’t tell us is that most of the time we can choose how we will react to the situation and thus determine our future by that reaction. Solomon doesn’t put the New Testament/Christian slant on the times. We cannot determine our time of birth or death. But we can determine on how we live. We can determine what and when we plant and uproot. We can determine not to kill but to heal. We can determine to build up and not to tear down. We can determine to laugh and not to cry. We can determine to dance and be happy and not to mourn. We can determine to gather stones and not to scatter them. We can determine to embrace one another in love. We can determine to search for good and to go the extra mile. We can determine to keep the good and throw away the bad. We can determine to mend relationships and not to tear the up. We can determine to speak what is good and not to speak about the bad. We can determine to love instead of hating. We can always determine to seek peace and to us war only as a last resort. Yes we can choose to react the way a Christian should act. We can determine to People that God wants us to be. It is entirely up to us. What will we choose to do today? What will we determine to do here and now? Always remember that you future and your happiness tomorrow will be determined by what you choose today. Here is a simple and yet profound prayer that may help you in your determinations. “Lord treat me today the way I treated everyone else yesterday.” (Author Unknown) Love Jim
