Phyllis Poston
Phyllis Poston, 81, died Oct. 19, 2003, in Waco, Texas.
She was born Oct. 4, 1922 in Ainsworth, Neb.
Mrs. Poston was a native of Ainsworth, Neb. She married Clyde Poston on Oct. 5, 1941 in Amarillo.
She was preceded in death by her husband and son.
Survivors include her son, Ronald Poston of Townsend, Tenn.; daughters, Debra Kraemer of Waco, Texas and Denise McMenamy of Richardson, Texas; sisters, Helen Schenk of Ainsworth, Neb. and Garazia Orr of Apache Junction, Ariz.; five grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Services were Thursday at Panhandle Cemetery in Amarillo.
The Rev. Jeff Matsler officiated.
Burial followed at the Panhandle Cemetery.

Hubert B. Cooper
Hubert B. Cooper Jr. died Oct. 2, 2003.
He was born Sept. 8, 1947 in Gallegos.
Mr. Cooper attended high school in Tucucmari and graduated in 1947. He worked his way through the higher eduation system and served his country during the next 13 years. He received his bachelor of science degree from New Mexico State University in 1951. He served in the United States Air Force from 1951-1954. He received ihs master of science degree in plant science from Colorado Sate University in 1956. He then finished his doctorate in genetics at the University of Wisconsin.
In 1960, he worked as an assistant professor of agronomy and cotton breeder at NMSU. Cooper moved to California in 1964, as a research agronomist and cotten brreder for the Shafter Cotton Research Station. in 1978, he assisted in design and construction of a cotton research facility for California Planting Cotton Seed Distributors. In 1988, he assited in teh design and consturction of a cotton research for J.G. Boswell Company in Corcoan, Calif. During his career he and teams he directed developed breeding and testing schemes, which resulted in a number of highly successful cotton varieties being developed for use by California farmers.
Cooper was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Virgina and brother-in-law Donald Shaw.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Oleta; son Rick and wife Kim of El Dorado Hills, Calif.; sisters, Loretta Boardman of Albuquerqu and Danna Lee Werner of Norwalk, Calif.; brothers, Harry D. Cooper of Grady and Edward Cooper of Green Valley, Ariz and two grandsons.
A memorial service was Oct. 6 The Rev. Larry Cluff of Shafter Methodist Church officiated.
