Norma Gutierrez Norma Gutierrez 56, died Dec.. 14 at Presbyterian Hospital in Albuquerque. She was born Jan. 13, 1947 in Tucumcari. Mrs. Gutierrez has been a life time resident of Tucumcari attending and graduating from the Tucumcari School System. She owned and operated the Norma Gutierrez Bail Bonding Company in Tucumcari. She was a member of St. Anne’s Catholic Church. Survivors include her mother Maggie Garcia of Tucumcari; two brothers, Marcos and Carlos Garcia both of Albuquerque; three sisters Mary Alice Medina; Anna Armijo and Virginia Lucero all of Albuquerque. A rosary was Thursday evening at St. Anne’s Catholic Church. A Mass of Resurrection was Friday morning at St. Anne’s Catholic Church. The Rev. Leo Padget officiated. Pallbearers were Donnie and Nick Medina, Erik Armijo, C. G. Garcia, Simon Gutierrez and Phil Medina. Burial followed at Tucumcari Memorial Park Cemetery. Arrangements by Dunn Funeral Home of Tucumcari. Guadalupe Marquez Guadalupe Romero Marquez died Dec. 14, 2003. She was born Jan. 12, 1936 in Dawson, Colfax County. Mrs. Marquez lived in San Miguel County in he village of Las Cruces until her family moved in 1923 to the Hudson community in Quay County. She was a member of St. Anne’s Catholic Church and involved with the St. Anne’s Christian Mothers, the Rosary Society and St. Vincent De Paul. Mrs. Marquez also headed the Con fraternity of Christian Doctrine at St. Anne’s Church. She graduated from Tucumcari High School in 1936 and attended New Mexico Highlands University where she received her teaching certification. She was a teacher in Montoya, Mora County, St. Anne’s Catholic School and Tucumcari public schools. Mrs. Marquez retired from her position with the agency. She was highly active in her community and spent her time with groups such as the Campfire Girls, Girl Scouts, Red Cross, Den Mothers, Infantile Paralysis Board, President of Senior Citizens Charter, she was the last surviving charter member of the Veterans of Foreign War Auxiliary Post 2528. Family members said she will be remembered for her life long commitment to her family, their education her community and cultural heritage. Mrs. Marquez is preceded in death by her husband Abe Marquez, mother Maria Valdez, step-father Jacobo Valdez, father Manuel Romero, grandson, Dominico Marquez, brother Facundo Romero; sister Epifania Duran, Ramon Valdez and Manuel Valdez. Survivors include five children, Lonnie Marquez of Socorro, daughter, Roberta Marquez of Albuquerque, John Marquez and wife Hope of Spring, Texas Anthonette and husband Joe Alejandrez of Las Cruces; sisters-in-law Anita Hendren, Della Marquez, Margie Valdez; dear friend Lucy Angel; nine grandchildren and four great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. A rosary was Wednesday at St. Anne’s Catholic Church. A Mass of Resurrection was Thursday at St. Anne’s Catholic Church. Arrangements by Dunn Funeral Home of Tucumcari.
