Educators hold raffle

The Tucumcari Education Association is raffling a painting by local artist Doug Quarles. The painting, a depiction of mallards in flight, is being raffled to raise money for a scholarship that will be disbursed to persons studying to become teachers. The raffle is the primary means used to fund the scholarship. The painting will be displayed in the lobby of Citizens Bank on Main Street all next week. Then it will be displayed in First National Bank of New Mexico for one week and Wells Fargo Bank the folowing week. Raffle tickets will cost $5. They will be available at each bank. Also, members of the education association will be selling the tickets. In addition to the painting, two signed proofs and five signed prints by Quarles will be offered in a silent auction at each bank. The raffle tickets will be entered into a drawing to be held May 14.
