The Tucumcari Love’s Country Store will be sponsoring their first ever Charity Co-ed Softball Tournament which, according to Love’s Country Store Manager Jamie Shaw, will benefit the Children’s Miracle Network. Shaw said that the Children’s Miracle Network is a group of hospitals that help children and get ill or injured children in need to hospitals on a non-profit basis. “It is a wonderful group,” said Shaw about Children’s Miracle Network. “They do so much good.” She said that is the reason that Love’s Country Stores through out the country decided support the Children’s Miracle Network and why the Tucumcari store intends to host the co-ed softball tournament on Aug. 21-22 with all the funds raised going to the organization’s children’s hospitals. “We just feel it’s something we can do to help out,” said Shaw. “We want to raise as much money as possible for the charity. We’d like to raise at least $1,600.” Shaw said the tournament will be a double elimination affair and will cost $125 per team participating. “We’re wide open for teams coming in,” said Shaw. “We’re not going to limit the numbers.” In addition to the competitors being able to play soft ball, Shaw said they will be fed with hot dogs and soft drinks during the tournament compliments of Love’s. She said there will also be door prizes given out. “It will all be compliments of the Love’s vendors,” said Shaw. “That’s where the food is coming from” The charity softball tournament will be held at the Tucumcari Softball Fields.
