Trinity Baptist to hold concert

Country gospel singer Myra Green will be coming to Trinity Baptist Church Sunday, Oct. 3 to perform in a special free concert at the church according to Trinity Baptist representative Linda Danwerth. “She was here a year ago,” said Danwerth, “and it went over very well. It is very inspirational.” Green is a Country Gospel Music Award winner and a New Mexico Native and recorded three albums of original songs written and produced by Ray Calcote of Farmington. The New Mexican country gospel singer is a past winner of the Southwest Region Female Vocalist Award. “Jesus has done so much for me,” said Green. “I am just an ordinary woman who loves to sing for Jesus. Yet, the work of the Lord in my ordinary life gives me a reason to sing, a reason to share. Ray Calcote’s lyrics and music tell about Jesus in a manner that is clear, uncluttered, biblically accurate and fun.” Danwerth said she is looking forward to Green singing Sunday. “She does have a beautiful voice,” said Danwerth about the singer. “People say it reminds them of Patsy Kline. I found it very entertaining.” Danwerth said there was a very good turnout at last year’s concert and she anticipates a good attendance this year as well. “The church (Trinity Baptist Church) was packed,” said Danwerth. “It was full, so it should be good.” The concert is free and will be held at Trinity Baptist Church at 823 First Street at 11 a.m. Sunday.
