Rita Martinez of Conchas Dam has been awarded the New Mexico Outdoor Drama Scholarship by the Mesalands Community College Foundation. The scholarship was established in 1997 and is available to Mesalands students who are studying drama or liberal arts and have a grade point average of 3.0 or better. Preference is given to residents of Quay County. Martinez, an Elementary Education student, expressed her gratitude for being selected to receive the scholarship. Although it is initially awarded for the fall semester, The New Mexico Outdoor Scholarship can be carried over into the spring semester for recipients who maintain the grade standards during fall semester.
