Barbara Johnson Barbara Dwan “Sug” Johnson, 71, died at Laurel Hills Health Care Center Wednesday, Oct. 6, 2004 following an extended illness. Sug Johnson was born February 24, 1927 in Lela Lake, Texas. She was a member of the First Christian Church of Tucumcari. She was a retired junior high school teacher having taught ninth grade English for many years. She was a member of the Tucumcari Education Association, the National Educational association and the New Mexico Educational Association. She was preceded in death by her mother Harriet Parsley and by her sister Beth Clower. She is survived by her companion Bill Stratton of Tucumcari; her daughter Holly Johnson of Albuquerque; her sons, Butch Johnson of Amarillo and Michael Johnson (Carol) of Arlington, Texas. She is also survived by three sisters, Brownie Jester, Roma Harris and LaVonda Slaughter all of Amarillo. In addition she is survived by three grandsons. There will be a memorial service Saturday, at 10:30 a.m. at the First Christian Church with Rev. Jim Witcher officiating. Following her wishes she was cremated. Jane Sanderson Jane Sanderson, 67, died October 7, 2004 at Dan C. Trigg Memorial Hospital in Tucumcari. Sanderson was born March 11, 1937 in Clovis. She is survived by her husband Raymond Sanderson of Tucumcari and her daughter Robbin Sanderson of Santa Fe. The body has been cremated. The time and place for a memorial serviced will be announced at a later date. John Branden Melton John Branden Melton, 23, died Oct. 6, 2004 in Omaha, Neb. John Melton was born Feb. 29, 1981 in Alamogordo. He last lived in Rio Rancho with his father. He is survived by his parents, Randy Melton of Rio Rancho and Barbara June Melton of Roy. He is also survived by three brothers, Richard Cook, Randy Melton, Jr. and Chris Melton, all of Alamogordo. Funeral services are scheduled for Oct. 12, 2004 in the Mosquero Community Church in Mosquero. Rev. Lester Stone, a Baptist minister from Alamogordo, will officiate. Burial will follow in the Mosquero Cemetery.
