Nona Moore Lizut

Nona Moore Lizut, 81, died April 6, 2005 in Albuquerque. Lizut was the youngest of seven children born to Charles “Doc” Moore and Alba Smith in Quay. Her parents homesteaded in Dobson in 1919 and moved to Quay in 1921. Lizut graduated from Tucumcari High School and moved to Santa Fe and married Charles Price, Jr. in 1944. They settled in Santa Fe where Lizut worked for the State of New Mexico Health Department until retiring in 1985. After Price’s death in 1959, Nona married Bill Lizut, whom she was with until his death in 2004. They kept busy before and after their retirement as square dancers, round dancers and ballroom dancers. Survivors include her sister Ruby Smith of Houston, Texas; son Charles Price (and wife Kate Hollander) of Albuquerque; grandsons Ethan and Ryan Price; step-son Roger Lizut (Sandra) of Seattle, Wash.; and granddaughters Kathy Foster, Jennifer Drager and Laura Lizut. Visitation will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday followed by a funeral service at 2 p.m. at the McGee Memorial Chapel. She will be buried with her husband Bill at a private burial ceremony at Sante Fe National Cemetery.
