UFO Festival events

Eastern New Mexico and the Texas Panhandle offer multiple destinations for Quay County residents looking to take a day trip this summer.
One getaway spot is even out of this world, sort of.
The Roswell UFO Festival is scheduled July 1-4.
Promoters claim more than 10,000 people typically sign in to the International UFO Museum over the July 4 holiday, while UFO enthusiasts and global press crews mix with families and vacationers to join in one of the southwest's best-known events.
The 2005 Festival offers a wide range of lectures and activities, from researchers focused on the 1947 Roswell Incident — when aliens supposedly crash landed — to music and entertainment.
Country singer Tracy Lawrence headlines the "Celestial Country Concert" on July 3, while other nights offer a "Terrestrial Tejano" flavor and an "Alien Oldies" concert, which includes performances by Little Anthony & the Imperials, The Shirelles and comedian Dwight Scruggs.
Other events include a play at Roswell's Little Theatre, a laser show at Robert H. Goddard Planetarium, an alien costume contest and parade down Main Street. The weekend is capped off by a large fireworks display on July 4 that can be seen from all over downtown. Many events are free, while others require an admission fee or donation.
