Thank God It’s Friday The program Thank God It’s Friday (TGIF) is coming to Tucumcari starting Sept. 2 to offer activities to Tucumcari students who no longer have school on Fridays. TGIF will be open from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. on the Fridays the Tucumcari Public Schools are closed, except for the holidays, according to Jim Witcher of the First Christian Church in Tucumcari. The program, held at the church at 1701 S. 4th St., will include Bible lessons and mini-sermons; music; exercise; crafts; reading circles; quiet times and tutoring with help from junior and senior high school students. TGIF is a free service to working parents but not a school or day care facility, Witcher said. Registration will be on Saturdays in August at the church until the limit of 100 is met.
