Published: Tuesday, February 21st, 2006
I was born and raised in Tucumcari. My parents are Jose F. Martinez ad Maria Marcella Martinez. I have three brothers and one sister. I married my high school sweetheart, Vivian Marquez, in 1978. We had two children, Apryl and Lewis Jr. Apryl is married to John Preciado and they have three daughters; Devanie Kaitlynn and Laryssa. John and Apryl both work for Victory Enterprises. Lewis Jr. joined the United States Navy on Dec. 1, 2005. He graduated from Grat Lakes Naval Station. He is currently stationed at Meridian Naval Base in Mississippi for advanced training. I graduated from New Mexico Highlands Uiversity in 1990 with a bachelor of arts in political science and history. In 1986, I received a kidney transplant from my brother, George Martinez. In November 1999, my kidney failed and I started kidney dialysis. I was working for the City of Tucumcari at this time. As your city commissioner I would bring stability to our budget. I would bring economic growth to the city. Most of all, I would do my best to open the city swimming pool for the children in the community. The people in District 4 and everyone in the great city of Tucumcari and depend on my support. I would appreciate your vote on March 7. Lewis Martinez Sr. is running for election in District 4 for city commissioner. All city candidates are invited to write, in 300 words or less, a brief synopsis of their intentions if elected.
