Arts council to present ensemble The Quay Council for Arts and Humanities will present its last event of the season, Somei Yoshino Taiko Ensemble (SYTE), at 7 p.m. Monday at the Tucumcari High School Auditorium. Founded in 1999, Somei Yoshino Taiko Ensemble is comprised of four artists who blend rhythms, world-inspired melodic woodwinds and strings, original costumes, theatrical sets and lighting, and a modern movement/dance vocabulary. Community college to celebrate Cinco de Mayo Mesalands Community College is hosting its Cinco de Mayo celebration from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. May 5 in the main building parking lot. Registration coming for football tournament May 6 is the deadline for flag football teams to sign up for the 11th annual Hike It and Spike It 4-on-4 charity flag football tournament. The tournament will be held Memorial Day weekend, May 26-28, at the Cielo Grande Recreation Area in Roswell. Teams in the “Show Me the Money” division will vie for $20,000 in cash prizes.
