Manuel Tafoya Services: Today at 2 p.m. in the Dunn Memorial Chapel. Manuel Tafoya, 67, died July 17, 2006 near Adrian-Vega area of Texas. Mr. Tafoya, who was born March 30, 1939 in Logan, and was farmer up until the time of his death. Surviving Mr. Tafoya are: a sister, Tresa (Harry) Whaley of Vega, Texas; three brothers. Epifanio Tafoya of Albuquerque, Ted Tafoya of Lovington and Raymond Tafoya of Portales; a half-sister, Mrs. N. Quintana of Amarillo; and many nephews and nieces, including John Whaley and Joanna Simpson, both of Amarillo. Mr. Tafoya’s nephew, the Rev. Rudy Reyes of Lovington will officiate at the services. Pall Bearers will be Luke Whaley, Michael Tafoya, Robert Simpson, George Tafoya, Johnny Tafoya and David Tafoya. Interment will follow at the family plot at the Logan Cemetery at Logan. Arrangements by Dunn Funeral Home of Tucumcari. Julie Janzen Services: Friday at 10 a.m. at the graveside at the Tucumcari Memorial Park Cemetery. Julie Janzen, 46., died July 17, 2006 at the Trigg Memorial Hospital. Ms. Janzen was born July 11, 1960 in Seattle, Wash. She and her sister, Kayla McKagan of Tucumcari, have been making their home here the past 5 years. She is survived by her sister. Arrangements by Dunn Funeral Home of Tucumcari. Rita L. Aragon Services: Have not been scheduled. Rita L. Aragon, 57, died on July 16 in Tucumcari following an extended illness. Mrs. Aragon is the daughter of Leo and Frances Mares. She was born in Belvedere, Kan. A long-time resident of Tucumcari, Mrs. Aragon touched many lives and was known by many as “mom” or “grandma.” Mrs. Aragon is survived by: her husband, Herman Aragon; a son, Manuel Martinez; and two daughters, Delida Curry and Ramona (William) Martin. She is also survived by four brothers, Leo (Esther) Mares of Silver City, Abel (Debbie) Mares of Amarillo, Juan (Sally) Mares of Hobbs and Romolo Mares of Tucumcari; five sisters, Connie (Howard) Moffit of Alamogordo, Shirley (Joey) Gonzales of Sparks, Nev., Mary (Margarito) Marquez of Tucumcari, Betty Jo (Dave) Bishop of Emerson, Ga., Debbie (Paul) O’Donnell of Apopka, Fla.; a sister-in-law, Bernice Mares of Amarillo; and eleven grandchildren and one great-grandchild, Semarin Marshbank. Mrs. Aragon is preceded in death by a son, Abel Martinez; her brothers, Robert and Steve Mares and her parents. Leo Padgett will officiate at services. Arrangements by Direct Funeral Services of Albuquerque. Walter Ray Rucker Services: Were held July 15, 2006 at Trinity United Methodist Church in Clovis. Walter Ray Rucker, 57, died in Amarillo on July 11, 2006. Mr. Rucker was born March 1, 1949 in Grants Pass, Ore. He had been a long-time resident of Tucumcari. Mr. Rucker also served in the Armed Services. Surviving Mr. Rucker are: his fiancé Evelyn Cruse of Tucumcari; two sons, Kevin (Allison) LaNeave of Richmond, Va., and Patrick Rucker of Norfolk, Va.; two daughters, Megan (Larry) Garretts of Virginia Beach, Va., and Karen (Gary) Flint of Wolcott, N.Y.; and six grandchildren. Also surviving is his former wife Mary Rucker of Virginia Beach, Va., and his three sisters, Margaret Sue Bogart and Jeanette Teakell, both of Tucumcari, and Annette Radford of LaVern, Okla. Mr. Rucker is preceded in death by one sister, three brothers and his parents. Following his wishes, his body has been cremated. Arrangements by Dunn Funeral Home of Tucumcari. Elmer P. Robberson Services: Have been held. Elmer P. Robberson, 97, of Clovis died July 12, 2006 at Roosevelt General Hospital. Mr. Robberson was born May 27, 1909 in McAlister to Charlie Bell Robberson and Prudence Mae Tatum Robberson. He attended school at Ard, Roosevelt and McAlister. His family moved to Stillwell, Okla., where he worked in a hotel, played sports and represented his high school at the Kansas City Royal Stock Show. His family moved back to McAlister where he graduated from high school. Mr. Robberson married Edna J. Smith April 4, 1936. He was a farmer and rancher in the McAlister area for many years. After retiring, he and his wife moved to Clovis, where he was a member of Trinity Methodist Church. Mr. Robberson was preceded in death by his daughter, Shirley J. Mallory, his parents, his brother, Harry James Robberson, and his sister, Lenna Mae Scales. Survivors include: his wife, Edna, of Clovis; one daughter, ElVerna Robbie Sparks (Donnie) of Canon City, Colo.; five grandchildren: Brenda Mallory Gottlieb (Mike), Linda Mallory Saidla (Ryan), Melissa Sparks Lettis (Jim), Robb Sparks and Amy Sparks DeVries (Nathan); four great-grandchildren. Also surviving are a brother, Martin “Slick” Robberson, and a sister, Mary McConnell. Wayne Salguero officiated at the services, followed by burial at Lawn Haven Memorial Gardens, Clovis. Arrangements were by Steed-Todd Funeral Home of Clovis.
