Zoo To You will be here for you The Zoo To You Van will be coming to the Tucumcari Public Library. The Zoo To You is a program from the Rio Grande Zoo that is free of charge, thanks to Phelps Dodge. Each presentation, given by zoo volunteers offers slides and biofacts such as skulls and animal pelts, as well as education animal ambassadors such as birds, reptiles, amphibians and small mammals. Zoo to You will be at the library on Aug. 9 from 2-4:00 p.m. Denish to join reunion The Democratic Party of Quay County will host a Democratic Reunion and Ice Cream Social to kick-off voter contact activities leading up to the November election. The reunion will take place immediately following the Rattler Reunion Parade at 10 a.m. at the city park on the corner of High and Fifth Streets in Tucumcari All Democrats are invited to attend the Reunion. Ice cream will be provided. Retreat for families affected by cancer There will be a Family Cancer Retreat on Sept. 15-17 in Glorieta, N.M. (a conference center 15 miles north of Santa Fe), for cancer survivors and their family, members or caregivers – the educational content deals with the many issues of surviving cancer. The center can accommodate two retreats per year, usually with about 125 families from all over the state attend. We cover all transportation costs to Glorieta - and bring health professionals from all aspects of cancer care to make presentations. on the programs. Nara Visa to celebrate its 51st The Nara Visa Community will celebrate their 51st Reunion and Homecoming on Sunday at the Nara Visa gym. Registration will begin at 10 a.m. This year’s program will honor those who graduated in the years ending with a six: 1956 , 1966, 1976 through the current year. If you are a member of a class that graduated in these years please come and represent your class. Sara Frances Stone will be in charge of the registration. Stone was a member of the class of 1956, which was the last class to graduate from Nara Visa. Bob White an alumni of Nara Visa High School will preside as master of ceremonies. Coming to the reunion? Please bring your favorite covered dish to share with old friends and classmates. Prizes will be rewarded for those that traveled the furthest, the oldest man, the oldest lady, and their will be a drawing for a prize. The red brick school house built in 1921, will be open for you to enjoy. With a model class room that looks just as it did when students sat in the old oak seats. The Gym and School house are both on the national and state Historical Register. Everyone is welcome to come help Nara Visa celebrate.
