Arbor Day Foundation makes trees available Does your classroom, club, group or church need a fall project that will grow green?
No, it’s not a money tree, but you will get 10 trees for a new $10 membership in the National Arbor Day Foundation. Ten free trees will be given to each person or organization from New Mexico who joins the foundation this month, according to a press release from the foundation.
The 10 trees are the American redbud, White Pine, Sugar Maple, White Flowering Dogwood, Pin Oak, Red Maple, Birch, Silver Maple, Red Oak and Colorado Blue Spruce, the press release stated.
“These trees were selected to provide benefits every season of the year in New Mexico: lovely spring flowers, cool summer shade, spectacular autumn colors, and winter berries and nesting sites for songbirds,” said John Rosenow, the foundation’s president in the release. “They will add to the proud heritage of New Mexico’s nine Tree City USA communities. For almost three decades, Tree City USA has supported community forestry across New Mexico, and planting these trees will make this tree planting tradition even stronger.”
Members also receive a subscription to the Foundation’s bimonthly publication, Arbor Day, and The Tree Book with information about tree planting and care, the release stated.
To receive the free trees send a $10 membership to Ten Trees, National Arbor Day Foundation, 100 Arbor Ave., Nebraska City, Neb. 68410, by Sept. 30 or join on line at www.arborday.org Booth reservations sought for bazaar Reservations for booths at the 11th Annual Christmas Bazaar, sponsored by the Twentieth Century Club of Clayton, are currently being taken.
