Quarles open Gallery 111
Published: Tuesday, October 10th, 2006
Gallery one eleven— which is recognized by its distinctive blue Gallery 111 letters on the storefront at the same address on Second Street — opened its doors on Saturday to a crowd of about 60 well-wishers and artists in their own right. It’s the dream of artists Sharon and Doug Quarles. “Ever since we’ve moved here four years ago, we’ve always wanted to open a gallery,” said Sharon Quarles. They are known for their distinctive photo-realistic murals on the sides of buildings throughout Tucumcari. The location of their gallery, downtown, “also shows our support for the MainStreet project,” said Sharon Quarles. Works by each of the Quarles’ artists are represented in the gallery as well those of other local painters and sculptors. The gallery is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday.
