The Tucumcari Public Library has begun its annual story time program for the younger set. Entitled, “Saddle Up and Read, Bookaroos,” the program reaches children from ages one to five. “The kids enjoy the program,” staff member Erica Lopez said. “It’s a good break from their daily routine.” The library staff reads books and holds an arts and crafts session for children at the library who are three to 4 1/2 years of age. The morning volunteer travels to the Old Mountain View School after the morning session to share the program with Head Start children ages one to three. Library Director Mary Ann Molinas said, “This program has been going on over 15 years and has included the Head Start program for the past two. The staff takes turns reading and helping with the crafts each week.” Saddle up and Read Bookaroos is at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. every Wednesday and will run through April. The program is open to all children ages 2 1/2 to five years old. For information about registration call 461-0295.
