Because nobody filed to run for the school board in House, persons interested in running for those positions may still file as a write-in candidate, according to a press release from the Quay County Clerk’s Office. The filing day for write-in candidates is Jan. 2, the release stated. According to state law, any member of a local school whose term of office has expired shall continue in that office until his successor is elected and qualified. The following positions are available : l Position 1 - remainder of a four year term expiring March 1, 2009 l Positions 3, 4 and 5 - four year terms Interested persons wanting more information about filing as a write-in candidate for the House School District should contact the Quay County Clerk at 461-0510.
