Don Huckabee Services: 2 p.m., today at Calvary Baptist Church in Friona, Texas. Don Huckabee, 72, died Sunday, Jan. 7, 2007, in Friona. Mr. Hubackabee was born Feb. 14, 1934 in Springlake, Texas, to Harvey Alfred and Zella Lea Bairett Huckabee. He was a decorated veteran of the Korean conflict, serving in the U.S. Army, where he was awarded the purple heart and the silver star. He married Kay Hill on April 14, 1962 in Lubbock, Texas. In 1968, he went to work for West Friona Grain and managed it for the next 30 years. He was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church and a member of the American Legion and VFW. Survivors include his wife, Kay, one son, Kerry Lee Huckabee of Tucson, Ariz., two daughters, Debra Hucakbee of Mesa, Ariz., and Susan Rae (Wayne) Henderson of Ackerly, Texas, one sister, Laverne Williams of Levelland, Texas, two brothers, Ted Huckabee of Oxford, Miss., and Richard Huckabee of Logan, N.M, and six grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a sister, Loy Dean Wortham in 2005. Rick Burton, pastor of Calvary Baptist Church, will officiate. Burial will be at the Friona Cemetery with military honors by the U.S. Army Honor Guard. Arrangements are by Blackwell Funeral Home of Friona.
