Library volunteer Tomoko Bahrs, aka Cat in the Hat, greeted guests as they came in for the Dr. Seuss' Cat in the Hat's 50th birthday. More than 175 children and parents turned out Thursday for the 50th birthday bash of Dr. Seuss' classic, “The Cat in the Hat.” Guest Dr. Seuss readers included Mayor Mary Mayfield and city commissioner Jim Witcher at the event sponsored by the Tucumcari Public Library at the Tucumcari Elementary School Library. There were lots of door prizes, including Dr. Seuss books.
