Ready for Route 66 festival
Published: Saturday, June 9th, 2007
The Route 66 Festival is set for June 15 and 16. And planners and organizers are packing activities into one solid event this year. On June 15 there will be live music and a watermelon feed at Kvols park to kick off the Route 66 Festival. On June 16 there will be events throughout the day like the Mother Road Rally, Rotary Car Show and A Monster Truck crush put on by Racing Crazy Enterprises. The Mother Road Rally takes place on one day this year instead of three days like the previous years. And the directors of the Rally are optimistic about the change. “In the past having the Rally over three days was a lot of hard work for the organizers,” said Rally director Randy Block. “People were not showing up ‘til late Friday night and leaving Sunday Morning so having it all on one day make sense. We feel we will make the same amount of money that we have in the past and all the money will go to charity.” Among the events is the Monster Truck crush being done by Crazy Charley Crossley which will be free to the public. They will also be doing monster dump truck rides. Route 66 Schedule June 15 6 p.m., Kvols Park free watermelon feed and live music by Eastern New Mexico Old Tyme Bluegrass Association.
