Monster truck fan ... The bigger the wheels, the better life is when it comes to Johnathan Michael Romero. Johnathan is a monster truck fan who loves to push his trucks along any route, and who will be celebrating his first birthday on Sunday with a monster truck theme, attended by friends and family, said his mother Jessica Biggers. Johnathan is the son of Biggers and Joey Romero, Jr. of Tucumcari. His grandparents are James and Billie Biggers of Tucumcari, and Joey and Juanita Romero of Clovis. More than meets the eye ... Landen Lankford celebrated his second birthday on Friday with a party in his home. The theme of his party was "Transformers." Helping Landen celebrate were his brother, Darian, 4, and his parents, Crystal Wentworth and Ricky Lankford who are originally from Bakersfield, Calif., and now living in Tucumcari. Landen was born Nov. 28, 2005 in Bakersfield, Calif. Turn on your Christmas lights ... The Tucumcari/Quay County Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring a Christmas Lighting Contest. So get your residential and commercial Christmas lights up by Dec. 11 and you could win a cash prize. Each of the two divisions will have first — $75, second — $50 and third — $25 prizes. Cash prizes are donated by Xcel Energy. Call the chamber with your entries, or if you see a house or business that you think is decorated well, call in the entry. Lights will be judged on Dec. 11. Call 461-1694. Parade of Lights ... The annual Parade of Lights sponsored by the Tucumcari/Quay County Chamber of Commerce will be on Dec. 8th, at 6 p.m. Set-up is from 5:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. Floats will line up behind the chamber office. There will be first and second place awards for three categories: Religious, Christmas general and recreational. Recreational includes anything on wheels: horses, wagons, semi-trucks, boats, RVs, motorcycles, bicycles, tractors, tow trucks, bobcats, dump trucks, buses, 5th wheelers. You may also enter and not be judged. There is no entry fee and you do not have to be a chamber member to enter. Forms must be returned by 5 p.m., Monday, Dec. 3. Families, individuals, businesses and organizations are encouraged to enter a float. Call 461-1694 for more information. Public service announcement ... The elevators at the Quay County Courthouse are currently out of service. We do not expect to have the elevators in working condition for several weeks.
