Dec. 7 – 8: 10 a.m. – 6 p.m., Holiday Arts and Culture Sale, featuring handmade items for holiday gifts by members of the Eastern New Mexico Art Space, 201 S. Second St., Tucumcari. Call 461-9908. Dec. 8: 6 p.m., Tucumcari/Quay County Chamber of Commerce Parade of Lights. There will be 1st and 2nd place awards in three categories: Religious, Christmas General, and Recreational. The recreational category includes anything on wheels: horses, wagons, semi-trucks, boats, RV’s, motorcycles, bicycles, tractors, tow trucks, bobcats, dump trucks, buses, fifth wheelers. You may also enter and not be judged. No entry fee and you don’t have to be a Chamber member to enter. Call the Chamber to register your float at 461-1694. Entry Guidelines: • All entries must be lighted • No live Santa on floats other than the Official Santa on the Emergency Vehicle • Do not throw candy into or at the crowd (for safety) Dec. 8: After the Parade of Lights, Santa will visit the Convention Center, 1500 W. Route 66 Blvd. Dec. 9: 10 a.m. – 4 p.m., Holiday Arts and Culture Sale by members of the Eastern New Mexico Art Space, 201 S. Second St., Tucumcari. Call 461-9908. Dec. 9: 7 p.m., “One Small Child” a Christmas musical, created and arranged by Tom Fettke and performed by the Center Street United Methodist, Tucumcari and San Jon United Methodist Church under the direction of Harold Sloan, at the Methodist Church in Grady. Dec. 9: 1 p.m. – 5 p.m., Helping Hands Hospice “Home Tour.” Tickets are $15 per person. You must have your ticket to enter each of the eight residences and businesses. You may begin at any of the sites listed below and visit them in any order. A reception will be held from 5 p.m. – 6 p.m. at the Gallery 111 Fine Art and Bed & Breakfast. Dec. 11: 6 p.m., VFW Post #2528 Ladies Auxiliary holiday party, Pow Wow Restaurant, 801 W. Route 66, Tucumcari. Dec. 11: Chamber Residential and Commercial Lighting Contest Judging, 1st place - $75, 2nd place - $50, 3rd place - $25. Call the Chamber to have your entry judged, or, if you see a house or business that you think is decorated nicely, call in the entry to: 461-1694. Dec. 14: 5 to 5:30 p.m., Christmas tree lighting and carolers sponsored by Tucumcari Main Street on Second Street in the area in front of the old train depot. Dec. 15: 7 p.m., Mariachi Christmas, Mariachi Tepeyac, Baile Baile dancers, Romano Enrique, Lydia Solano, and Tucumcari’s own Reynaldo Maestas. Presented by Quay Council for Arts and Humanities. Tickets are $10 or two for $15. Children under 12 w/adult: $2 each. Tickets are available at the Chamber of Commerce, Bob’s Budget Pharmacy or from any board member. Dec. 16: 7 p.m., “One Small Child,” a Christmas Musical presentation at the San Jon United Methodist Church, San Jon. Dec. 21: 7 p.m., “One Small Child,” a Christmas Musical presentation at the Center Street United Methodist Church, 406 E. Center St., Tucumcari. Dec. 23: 10:30 a.m., “One Small Child, a Christmas Musical will be presented at the Center Street United Methodist Church, 406 E. Center St., Tucumcari.
