Santa came to town on the top of the Tucumcari Fire Department engine.
The Quay County ASAP Coalitoin float proclaimed an antismoking message.
Blankets and knit caps kept these sleigh riders warm in parade.
Undaunted by Saturday night’s freezing rain, more than a dozen floats made the traditional ride through town.
The cold rain, however, did keep some groups from entering the traditional event making the parade smaller than last year.
Parade viewers watched from their vehicles parked along side streets and at intersections, while a few stood outside to watch.
The weather didn’t keep Santa Claus from taking his annual ride atop a Tucumcari fire engine. With waves and a frequent Merry Christmas greeting to children, the inclement conditions didn’t seem to bother ole Saint Nick a bit.
