Chimney fire at house on Highway 104 was brought under control by firefighters Friday morning.
Firefighters contained a house fire on Highway 104 on Friday morning, said Tucumcari Fire Chief Mike Cherry.
Three engines from Rural District 1 and the city responded to the 8:59 a.m. call from 10275 State Highway 104, about four miles from Tucumcari.
The fire, which was fought by 10 firefighters, was contained in about 30 minutes, Cherry said.
There was water damage in the downstairs living area, where the chimney fire erupted, he said.
The homeowner called in the fire, and there were no injuries, Cherry said.
Emergency rescue services and firefighters have responded to several accidents since Christmas Day, including a two-car collision on Wednesday morning on I-40 west of Palomas, Cherry said.
One person was airlifted to Amarillo for treatment, Cherry said.
Other accidents have involved semis, including two diesel spills, when semis jackknifed and punctured their tanks, he said.
