Bretta Smith and Travis Kotara will exchange vows at 7 p.m. on Aug. 16 at the home of  Jarrell and Robin Smith, 2522 Frost Rd. in Logan. A reception will follow.  Friends and family are invited to attend. Bretta Smith is the daughter of  Jarrell and Robin Smith of Logan and Travis Kotara is the son Robert and LaQuita Eakin of Dallas, Texas.

 
First birthday
Javida Baca is celebrating her first birthday today with her family and friends in Logan. Her parents are Vanessa and Clay Roberts of Logan and her big sister is Jaide, 6. Javida's grandparents are John and Helen Baca of Tucumcari.

Aiyana Roybal celebrated her third birthday on July 26. The daughter of Felicia Roybal of Tucumcari and Daniel Mendoza of Amarillo, Aiyana enjoyed a princess party with family and friends. She is the granddaughter of Alvin and Judy Benavidez of Tucumcari and Daneil and Magie Mendoza  of Amarillo. Her great-greandmothers are Barbara Benavidez and Viola Griego, both of Tucumcari.

Sue's best bet

A retirement party was thrown last month for Sue Best who had worked almost seven years with the Maternal Child Health program, a school health partnership program that provides a  a nurse and counselor in the schools. Best worked as an administrative assistant.
